Ho Chi Minh City, still widely called Saigon, is Vietnam's largest city and its commercial heart. French-era landmarks like the Central Post Office and Notre-Dame Cathedral sit among the towers, and the street food is some of the best in the country.
The Cu Chi Tunnels
About two hours from the centre, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a preserved stretch of the network used during the war. A guide walks you through the trap systems and the narrow passages, a direct look at the resilience the region is known for.
A day on the Mekong
The Mekong Delta begins a short drive south at My Tho. A motorboat on the Tien River, a sampan ride through coconut-palm canals, a folk-music performance and a coconut-candy workshop make up a full delta day.

On the nine-day journey, Saigon is the final base, with two nights at Pullman Saigon Centre. It pairs naturally with Da Nang and Hoi An to the north, a 1.5-hour flight away.
Both names are in daily use. The city was renamed Ho Chi Minh City in 1976, but locals and travellers still call the central districts Saigon, and you will see the name on shopfronts, cafes and the main railway station.
The Cu Chi Tunnels are about 40 kilometres northwest of central Ho Chi Minh City, roughly a 1.5 to 2 hour drive each way. Most visitors go on a half or full-day guided trip, which is built into the nine-day itinerary.
