Beginner surf holidays with ISA-certified coaching on the gentlest waves, from Sri Lanka's Weligama Bay to Morocco's Taghazout and Portugal's Ericeira.
Start on soft, slow waves made for first-timers, with a coach guiding every take-off.
Learn from internationally certified instructors, one-to-one or in small groups of up to four.
Practise at Weligama Bay, Taghazout's beach breaks and Ericeira's mellower spots.
Board, wetsuit, rashguard and cold-water kit where needed are included, so you just turn up.
Balance lessons with a Galle Fort walk, a Yala safari, or Sintra and Lisbon on the Portugal trip.
Coaches assess your level early and step up each session, with video review on some trips.
The best places to learn
Warm water and slow, gentle waves make learning far easier, which is why Sri Lanka's Weligama Bay and Morocco's Taghazout are two of the best beginner spots anywhere. Portugal's Ericeira has calmer beaches for first-timers alongside its famous reserve breaks, so you can progress without travelling far.
How the coaching works
Every trip includes three 2-hour lessons with ISA-certified coaches. You can go one-to-one or join a small group of up to four, and coaches assess your level on the second session to pitch the rest of the week just right. On some trips you get video review to see what to fix.
When to go
Timing matters for beginners because small, clean waves are easier to learn on. Sri Lanka is best December to March, while Morocco and Portugal work well from autumn through spring. We steer you to the coast with the friendliest conditions for your dates.
A holiday, not just a surf camp
These are proper holidays, not bare-bones camps. You stay in luxury beachfront or clifftop properties, get private transfers and daily breakfast, and spend the non-surf days on safaris, heritage walks and palace tours.
Yes, these holidays are designed for first-timers. Coaching starts with the fundamentals on gentle, forgiving waves, and most people stand up and ride whitewater within their first two-hour session with an instructor alongside.
Sri Lanka's Weligama Bay and Morocco's Taghazout are the gentlest and warmest, making them ideal for a first surf trip. Portugal's Ericeira also has beginner-friendly beaches alongside its more advanced reserve breaks.

No. Boards, wetsuits, rashguards and cold-water gear where needed are all provided, so you only need swimwear, sunscreen and a towel. Everything for the water is set up and ready at each surf base.
Plenty. Trips pair surf days with a Galle Fort walk and Yala safari in Sri Lanka, Paradise Valley and Essaouira in Morocco, or Sintra palaces and Lisbon's old town in Portugal, so non-surfing days stay full.
