Surf and yoga retreats that pair coached waves with daily flow, from Bali's Uluwatu and Ubud to Sri Lanka's south coast and Portugal's Ericeira.
The rhythm of a surf and yoga retreat
A good surf and yoga week has a rhythm to it. Mornings are for the water, catching waves while the wind is light. Afternoons slow down with a massage or a nap, and evenings end on the mat, stretching out shoulders that have paddled all day. The two practices fit together: yoga builds the balance, breath and flexibility that make you a better surfer.
Bali, the spiritual home of the combination
Our Bali trip is built for this. Four nights on the Bukit Peninsula put you near Uluwatu's reef breaks, then three nights in Ubud shift the mood to a river-gorge wellness retreat, with rice-terrace walks, a water-temple ritual and a wellness session of massage, yoga or consultation.
Where else it works
Sri Lanka's south coast pairs gentle waves at Weligama with Ayurvedic treatments near Tangalle. Portugal's Ericeira backs up its World Surf Reserve waves with clifftop spa time. Each retreat sets its own balance of surf and stillness.
Who it suits
You do not need to surf or do yoga well, or at all. Coaches and the schedule meet you where you are, whether you want a hard surf week with restorative evenings or a gentle reset with a few waves in it.
Paddle out for the morning's cleanest waves with an ISA-certified coach, private or in a group of four.
Unwind on the mat with flow and breathing sessions built to loosen surf-tired shoulders and hips.
Book in for deep-tissue massage, Ayurveda in Sri Lanka or a hammam in Morocco between sessions.
In Bali, walk Ubud's rice terraces and join a water-temple purification at Pura Tirta Empul.
In Sri Lanka, combine gentle Weligama waves with Ayurvedic treatments and a leopard safari at Yala.
Close the day with clifftop sundowners at Uluwatu or a quiet beach pavilion dinner.
Tell us how much surf and how much stillness you want, and we will balance the week across the right coast, coaching and wellness.
Not at all. Surf coaching starts from the basics with ISA-certified instructors, and yoga sessions are open to every level. You set the balance, from a hard surf week with gentle evenings to a slow reset with a few waves.
Bali is the classic choice, splitting the week between Uluwatu's surf and Ubud's wellness retreats. Sri Lanka pairs easy waves with Ayurveda, while Portugal's Ericeira combines World Surf Reserve breaks with clifftop spa time.
It varies by destination. Bali includes a wellness session of massage, yoga or a consultation, Sri Lanka offers optional Ayurvedic treatments near Tangalle, and Portugal has spa treatments available beside the surf base.
Bali is at its best from June to October, Sri Lanka from December to March, and Portugal from autumn through spring. We match your dates to the season with the most reliable surf and the calmest conditions.
Each retreat runs 7 nights and 8 days, usually split between a surf base and a wellness base so you get both the waves and the wind-down without changing countries or rushing the week.
